Egypt Report Guidelines
 
          The following guidelines will help you research, develop, and produce your final report.  These guidelines are also the criteria by which your report will be graded.  You will receive a grade in social studies for the content of your report and a grade in writing for the language, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and organization of your report.  The report is due on Monday, January 8, 2007.
 
Ø      You need to take notes, use Four-Square organizers, write a rough draft, and type a final copy.  I will be asking to see your notes, Four-Squares, and rough draft over the next few weeks.  
Ø      Your report needs to include a bibliography (see the attached information).  You should use a variety of sources in your research (books, internet, magazines, other articles, et cetera).
Ø      You must follow standard conventions of the English language and use proper mechanics (grammar, spelling, punctuation)
     – Remember: correct, concise, complete! 
Ø      Don’t plagiarize – the information should be written in your own words!
Ø      Your report must be at least two type-written pages
–        with the proper heading (see the attached example)
–        double spaced
–        use a plain font such as Arial, MS Reference Serif, Tahoma, or Times New Roman
–        the font size must be 12
–        use the default margin setting on your computer (top and bottom margins = 1”, right and left margins = 1.25”)
–        your paper must be printed in black
–        and of course, you may make it longer than two pages!
 
 
 
Egypt Project Guidelines
 
          The following guidelines will help you develop your project.  These guidelines are also the criteria on which your projects will be graded.  The project is due on Monday, January 8, 2007.
 
Ø      Your project must be on the same topic as your report and should enhance your report and presentation.
Ø      Your project must be well done, neat, and creative (have fun with it)!  You may choose one of the following types of project
–        model                                   -- diorama
–        poster                                   – video 
–        puppet or doll                       – Power Point show
–        clothing or costume              – rap (must audition this one with me                
                                                         for prior approval)
Egypt Presentation Guidelines
 
            The following guidelines will help you prepare for the oral presentation you will give in order to share all the wonderful, exciting, and interesting information you’ve gathered.  By February 10th, you will be an expert Egyptologist!  Therefore, the purpose of your presentation is to share your knowledge about the topic you’ve chosen with your classmates.  These guidelines are also the criteria by which your presentation will be graded.  Presentations will be given beginning on Monday, January 8, 2007.
 
Ø      Face your audience and maintain eye contact with them.
Ø      Show your expertise.  (Don’t just read your report, be expressive –  combine the arts of conversation and performance to WOW your audience!)
–        know your topic information
–        speak slowly and clearly (avoid “ummmms,” “likes,” “wells,” et cetera)
–        rehearse several times before the day you are scheduled to give your presentation.
