Dear Grade Six Students (and Families)  ~

Attached is all the information you’ll need to guide you in preparing your report, project, and presentation on ancient Egypt.  Please take the time to carefully read through these guidelines.   I would also suggest that you use them as a checklist to help you complete each section.  By completing this assignment you will not only be learning about a fascinating period in history and the development of civilizations, but you will also be preparing for the work you will be required to do in both junior high and high school.
As I mentioned in class, if you do not have access to a computer, you may have the opportunity to stay after school and use the classroom computers.  In order to do this, you must abide by several rules.  First, there must be at least two students staying after together.  Second, you must have a signed permission slip (see attached form) handed in the day before you wish to stay after.  Third, you must be picked up at the side entrance by our classroom no later than 4:00 p.m.   Fourth, since this assignment is meant to be done on your own, and since I always have work to do in the classroom after school, I will not be able to help you do your work.  Fifth, you will not be allowed to wander anywhere else in the building and appropriate conduct is expected.
You will have plenty of time to complete this assignment – a bit more than four weeks.  You also have received instruction on time management, setting up a work schedule for yourself, how to do research and note-taking, the use of the Four-Square, editing, and producing a final copy of your work – so you have the knowledge that will enable you to complete this assignment.  What you must contribute are your time and effort.   I expect that since you were able to choose your topic, you are excited to learn about it.  I look forward to you sharing that knowledge and excitement with your classmates, other teachers, and me!

                                                                        Sincerely,

                                                                        Mrs. Kinnin
