SCIENCE SEVEN
This course is designed to introduce students to the study of Life Science.
Emphasis will be placed on the following units of study: The Nature of Life,
Characteristics and Needs of Living Things, Classification, Cell Structure
and Function, Body Systems, Heredity, Ecology, Diversity and Adaptation of
Organisms and Evolution. Skill development in this inquiry-based course will
include the use of the scientific method, use of lab equipment and lab safety,
as well as the development of scientific writing skills. Maintaining a science
notebook is a course requirement.
SCIENCE EIGHT
This course, Earth Science, includes, but is not limited to the following
topics: Scientific Method and Metric System, the Universe and Solar System,
Earth's Atmosphere and Weather, Earth's Structure and Changes, and Earth's
Natural Resources. An emphasis is placed on inquiry of scientific concepts
through direct investigation. Students will continue to develop scientific
writing skills through open response questions on labs and exams. All strands
of the Massachusetts Science Framework are components of this course. |
