8th Grade Computer Applications
Room: B116
Duration: 5 days a week for 10 weeks (one term)
Areas to be covered:
This course is organized to cover the concepts that will help students meet the eighth grade technology milestones established by the Tantasqua Regional & Union 61 School Districts. The course will work with numerous software applications:
- Desktop Publishing (Publisher/Word)
- Design brochures and/or flyers
- Word Processing (Word)
- Edit, revise and format documents
- Spreadsheets (Excel)
- Create spreadsheets with formulas, text, and numbers
- Produce charts and graphs
- Multimedia (Power Point)
- Create a slide show presentation
- Internet
(Internet Explorer)
- Evaluate websites for reliability
- Learn how to be safe on-line
Due to the hands-on nature of this class, all work will be completed in school. The curriculum is designed to help students learn to use computers more productively for all classes.
Grading:
70% assignments
30% tests
Expectations:
- Have your computer notebook (made in class) and a writing utensil for all classes during the course.
- Conduct yourself in a productive, polite and orderly manner.
- Read and abide by the District Policy for Student Use of the Internet.
- Evaluate the appearance and accuracy of the projects you produce.
- Turn in all assignments in a timely fashion.
- Communicate with me (before school, after class or after school) whenever you are having problems or have missed work due to an absence.
Extra help and/or additional computer lab time is available every Wednesday after school. |
