Collage
Lesson Objectives
Students will study the art of collage (artistic composition with an emphasis on texture and pattern). Students will learn about famous artists that worked with collage: Henri Matisse, Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, Sandy Skoglund, Josef Cornell and Eric Carle. Students will create a collage using the theme of Latin American Species.

Inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe
Lesson Objectives
Students study flower paintings created by Georgia O’Keeffe and use watercolors to paint a flower in the style of Georgia O’Keeffe.

Inspired by Romare Bearden
Lesson Objectives
Students draw a contour portrait of an inspirational person using the grid method. Students create a collage from their drawing in the style of Harlem Renaissance artist Romare Bearden.

| Pointillism Watercolor ~ Grade 7 |

Repoussé
Lesson Objectives
Students study the ancient art of repoussé (French: to push back). They will look at examples of repoussé in ancient Tibetan sculptures, funeral masks, and contemporary examples from www.myschoolonline.com. Students then create a design to be transferred to tin. Students use tools to “push” the tin and create a repoussé relief sculpture. The designs are colored using permanent markers.
