Program Description


    The LEAP Program stands for Literacy for Everyone's Advancement Program.  The program was begun in the Fall of 2005.  It involves 10 staff members.  Included in this staff are 3 first grade teachers, 3 educational assistants, 2 reading specialists, a math and reading teacher, and a special education teacher.  Students are put into small groups of between 4-6 students.  Students are grouped using the results of DRA, kindergarten test scores, and parts of the Observation Survey assessment.

Program Design


    Each morning from 8:45-9:30 small groups meet with their instuctor for 45 minutes of guided reading instruction..   LEAP instructors meet once a month  to review running record results and this is when students are moved between groups if it is appropriate.
